Energy independent houses. Heat pumps and photovoltaic panels with 10.8 kW power

The consumption of energy and gas is the main concern for the people of this planet, especially in recent months. Increased costs worry people and determine them to look for alternative solutions. Our article today is about these solutions: green houses and the means through which this solution can be achieved.

New Concept Living is developing an neighborhood made up entirely of houses only 15 km away from Sibiu, in the residential area of Talmaciu. The houses in the Verdi residential complex offer 0 costs for the consumer (no cost for electricity and gas consumption). The photovoltaic panel system will produce enough energy to cover all the costs of the house, as well as for the daily charging of two electric cars.

What exactly does this mean?

The heat pump is like a gas heating system, except that it runs exclusively on electricity. The cost of a complete heat pump system is 9000 euros, while the cost of a simple heating system is 800 euros. The real estate developer's investment is high, but the long-term benefits belong to the consumer.

The houses will have an electric stove and an electric oven. Even more, the beneficiary can also cover the charging of two electric cars, thus reducing these costs as well. The solar panels on the house provide enough energy so that the electricity bill amounts to 0. The benefits of the solar panels are measured over a 12-month period, after all 4 seasons have passed.

What happens in the cold season, when the sun's rays are missing?

During summer, the prosumer produces much more than its own consumption. Daily, a large surplus is created that will be consumed in the next cold season.

Do I need batteries to store electricity?

No. In the relationship with the electricity supplier, the residents of the Verdi residential complex will not be consumers, but prosumers (producers and consumers at the same time). Throughout the day, the photovoltaic panels inject/donate all the electricity produced (and not consumed at that moment) into the national electrical grid.
During the night, when the photovoltaic panels aren’t producing any energy, the electricity from the grid is being consumed. A 1-1 relationship is formed and the prosumer consumes the electricity that its own panels have produced.

What kind of solar panels are being used in the Verdi residential complex?

The panels used are Canadian Solar and produce 10.8 kWh and 11.5 kWp. kWp is the peak power of a photovoltaic panel system. Solar panel systems are rated in peak kilowatts (kWp), and this is the rate at which they generate power at peak performance, such as on a sunny afternoon. A 15-year warranty is offered for the solar panels and 5 years for the inverter which is being used.

From the moment the customer acquires a green house, he doesn't have to do anything anymore. The real estate developer takes care of both the installation of the solar panels and the necessary documentation for the transformation of the house from a consumer into a prosumer.
