Eternity was born in the village. Here's why!

I believe that lately people have been divided into two categories: those who are grateful to have a house with a garden and those who very much wish for a house with a garden. In the context of the pandemic that requires us to stay at home, I think we all realized how important it is to be able to go out in the yard, to relax in the fresh air, to get some exercise.

Yes, I know that some houses in Sibiu have a price that many of us cannot afford. For those who can not buy a house in the city or in the suburbs of the city and for those who appreciate simple things, today I write some reasons why life in the country is something we can consider.

I am Magdalena Gliga, the marketing manager of the New Concept Living agency. I live in Sibiu and my family has a country house in Sibiu County – in Arpașu de Sus. And during this time I am more grateful than ever for this.
Here's why.

Eternity was born in the village. Ordinary people in the country enjoy the little they have and thank God for that every day. In the country we don't find many people in depression, people who need psychotherapy or yoga to relax.

Fresh air. Country life means less traffic, less polluting factories, less waste and, implicitly, more clean air. Pure health.

Large yard. In the country, the plots of land of the houses are bigger, the built area of the house is also bigger. If we add the vegetable garden, the orchard and the annexes, we will see that most houses in the country have at least 1500 sqm of land.

Quiet. Most of the time, in the yard of the country house, only the chickens in the yard or the birds in the fruit trees can be heard. And that's wonderful.

Eco. Bio. And all the others. The vegetable garden, the potato crop, the vine, all allow you to consume products which are as natural as possible, without forced growth or fertilizer. In addition, chickens are not raised with hormones, and the omelette made from free-range eggs seems to have a different taste. Not to mention the bacon from the pork raised in the yard, because it's almost Christmas.

„No one is starving in the country”, a neighbor told me the other day. And so it is. In the country you can always find a handful of corn, everyone has a few potatoes in the cellar and a few eggs in the pantry. All this can also be found in the city, but it costs money.

„The neighbor is the closest relative”. In the city it is also good to know your neighbors and help each other, but in the country a more special kind of humanity has been preserved, a stronger mutual help. You always know that you can rely on neighbors for whatever you need and now, during isolation, help is provided over the fence or through the window.

Freedom. Whether you want to bake vegetables for zacusca in the yard, you want to have a barbecue and a party or you want to beat your carpets at 12 o’ clock at night, all this is possible in the country. The houses have enough space between them, the yards are individual and the neighbor whom you helped the other day will not say anything, even if he is slightly bothered.

Safety. People in the country know each other. All of them. Thus, the chances of someone breaking into your house or being robbed are lower in the village than in the city.

Good day! In the country, people greet each other. Everyone. When we were children, our grandparents told us that it was shameful „not to greet all people in the village”. It's a simple and beautiful gesture, which brings people even closer.

Outdoor work. When I was a child, I longed for holidays like the ones of children in the city, without going to make hay or picking potatoes. Even today I can't say that I long for such activities, but I realize more how beneficial it is to practice physical work outside, in the wind and the sunshine. And when you know that in winter you will eat from your own crop, it seems that the mood strikes even more.

Superb view. If you live in a village located at the foot of the mountains, the view is superb. We can consider ourselves very lucky, around Sibiu we have mountains everywhere :)

Money and time saving. In the country all maintenance costs are lower. In addition, getting to the grocery store takes a maximum of 10 minutes on foot and you don't really have to wait in line. The church is also a few steps away.

Psychological balance and mental health. Having all the above factors at hand, I can say that people living in the country are more relaxed, more loose and enjoy a special kind of peace of mind. After all, joy really lies in the little things.

Certainly there are also other advantages why living in the village is very beautiful. If you also live in the country, leave us a message or a comment and tell us what you like the most.

In closing, I wish you, no matter where you live, to find joy and peace in everything.
