Heat pumps vs gas boiler. What do we buy?

People are increasingly looking for a home away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a comfortable home, but to provide all their needs. After the construction is completed, you encounter a series of decisions that you have to analyze very well before moving on, and the time you have can be short. Thermal comfort is essential, and most people use classic, gas or electric power plants. If in Romania they are not yet very well known, in many European countries heat pumps are already well known and the solution of many owners. The International Energy Agency has proposed that, starting with 2025, gas-fired power plants be taken out of sale.

Today's article comes to your aid and addresses a topic that is not widely discussed, but which is beginning to be a choice for more and more people who are building a house, namely heat pumps.

What is a heat pump?
A heat pump is a structure that carries heat from the source used (soil, water or air) to the chosen heating system and can have a dual use: it provides heating in the cold and cooling in summer.
The heat pump is based on 3 major components:
• drilling;
• heat pump (which can be positioned anywhere in the house);
• the heating system of your choice (underfloor heating or radiators).

What are the types of heat pumps and how do they work?
There are three types of heat pumps: air-water, water-water and ground-water. As a general basis for operation, each pump takes heat from the source used and processes it using the operating system it has at its base for use in the home.

Air-to-water heat pumps. This type of pump uses outside air to produce the heat needed by the home. Heat occurs even when temperatures are lower. It can be connected to radiators, to the underfloor heating system or to another system used by you. In addition to heating the house, it can also produce hot water.

Water-to-water heat pumps. This pump time uses water from rivers, groundwater or lakes to produce heat in the home. Before placing this type of pump, the quantity and composition of the water that you will use as a source must be analyzed very well. The design of the system related to the pump involves the drilling of the wells that will be used and the installation of the related equipment.

Ground-water heat pump. This type uses the energy of the soil to bring heat or cooling to the house. Its mode of operation is based on a closed circuit consisting of the pump itself, the geothermal drilling and the system used by you to heat the house.

Heat pumps or wood/gas boiler?
Certainly both heating systems do their job and ensure you the desired thermal comfort. But there are certain differences that could help you when you want to build a home. A heat pump is a good choice because it uses a natural, environmentally friendly source unlike wood or gas boilers. In other words, the budget allocated to invoices will decrease.
With a heat pump you will have greater comfort. You don't have to constantly clean or think about where you will put the wood for the boiler and at the same time you don't have to do constant checks or continuously monitor its activity.

I hope the information presented here has helped you get an idea of how heat pumps work. Even if they are a novelty for our country, they already make their presence felt on the market and in the owners' houses.
