Here is how we take advantage of the time spent at home during this period
26.03.2020

They say that we have something to learn from any situation. Everything has a good side, but also a less good one, because there is a law of balance in everything around us. This was a first thought that we all planted and nurtured in the New Concept Living team during all this time. Certainly, something beautiful lies also behind this social and economic crisis that we are all going through.

I am Magdalena Gliga, the marketing manager of the New Concept Living agency. This also means that I am responsible for getting the nicest messages from our team to the dear people who follow us online every day. In this material I will summarize some ideas gathered from colleagues about how we take advantage of this more difficult period in a positive and optimistic way.

1. We spend quality time with our loved ones. #Stayhome and spend time with your family. You've heard this many times in the last few weeks, haven't you? Well, we are telling you the same thing. These moments will pass and we will miss spending time with parents and children.

2. We read and get up to speed with the books on our nightstands. Show of hands: Who has at least one book left on the nightstand, because there was no time or because before bed we had no more energy for reading? Well, it's the perfect time to catch up on our reading.

3. We learn and improve our skills for the workplace. We are blessed to have a determined and development-oriented team. Although we are always eager to learn, we must admit that we do not always succeed. We do not dedicate that one hour to an online training, we do not read those professional blogs, we do not follow our mentors as we would like to. Why? We do not have time. Well, now is the perfect time to become the best version of ourselves. We work from home, but we take advantage of each moment to hold an online meeting and exchange ideas.

4. We cook and satisfy our culinary cravings. Even the inexperienced colleagues in cooking, among whom I admit to also count myself, tried to cook during this period and prepare some of the most unique and delicious recipes. Just yesterday I received pictures of bread and „cozonac” cakes that looked delicious.

5. We tidy up cabinets, bookshelves, attics and other spaces, if necessary. A few colleagues kept us informed that it is a good time to deal with administrative matters. A spring cleaning in the wardrobe, closets, old things in the attic and the list can go on endlessly.

6. We have time for our hobbies. Although we have to stay at home, this does not mean that we cannot enjoy those hobbies that we can pursue indoors. For example, Silviu told us that now he has time to learn new songs on the instruments which he can play. Tibi enjoys playing the guitar and Mirabela loves to spend time with Kenzo, her dog. Others like to solve crossword puzzles, cook or paint. These days, we all enjoy doing the things we didn’t feel like doing after 8 hours of office work.

7. We learn new things. It is never too late to learn something new and we are trying to make the most of it now. It's the perfect time to learn a few words in a foreign language, to crochet, garden, if you live in a house with a yard, or to make all sorts of handmade things.

8. We excercise. A healthy mind lives in a healthy body and even if we can't go to the gym, we bring the gym to us. There are a lot of programs that can be followed online. And if we don't have weights, we use the water bottles we bought for supply.

9. We go back to our childhood. During this period we have more time to play, to watch cartoons or to relive memories from the most beautiful period in anyone's life: childhood. Children are most happy that they receive all the attention from their parents.

10. Virtually, we spend time with friends from far away. These are harder times and we are all experiencing a sense of insecurity and fear. We try to be with our loved ones with nice words, a joke, even when we are far away from each other. Some of your acquaintances probably live in another city, another country or on another continent. Don't forget them, give them a call, a video call, and make sure they're okay. Thank God, we have a lot of virtual connection possibilities, which we now take advantage of for our weekly meetings.

Instead of a conclusion, I convey to you our best thoughts on behalf of the New Concept Living team. Stay home for as long as possible to protect yourself, but also your loved ones. Be confident that we will see each other, also physically, soon.
Until then, all the best!
Magdalena Gliga
