Lor.And is a take-away concept restaurant that takes local cuisine to another level. Through authentic dishes, Chef Lorant Erdei brings a new and diverse menu to the people of Sibiu every day. Next, we invite you to discover the story of the business from the discussion we had with Chef Lorant.


1. How did Lor.And start and where did this highly successful idea come from?
Over a glass of wine between 2 professionals: a chef and a gourmet interior designer (Erdei Lorant and Alexandru Mărginean).

2. Where does the passion for cooking come from?

I chose to make a radical change at the end of high school, namely to enroll in cooking school in Budapest, even though I had studied at a high school with a humanities profile. Cooking was not among my dearest hobbies, such as fishing, but it became one within the first week at that school.


3. We know you have worked in a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in France before. What determined you to return to the Romania and especially, why did you choose Sibiu as the location for your restaurant?
Simple! There is love in Sibiu.

4. What are the biggest challenges in this industry?
- The lack of qualified staff makes it difficult to set up and develop a new location. I consider myself lucky, because I managed to form a stable team.
- The instability of the economy.

5. What do you love most about your job?
Cooking!

6. What is the feedback of the people who visit Lor.And?
We have loyal customers! When I say loyal, I mean the people who came to our location since the first week and who are still with us today.

7. The Lor.And menu is so diverse and always brings something new. Where does the inspiration for the dishes come from?
Knowing and respecting the ingredients.

8. How do you advertise?
We advertise through social media channels and in publications where, like in this case, articles, reviews or interviews are published. The online environment is the main exposure option anyway and the take-away concept is largely based on the information procedure within Facebook and Instagram.

9. What were the most successful dishes so far?
We have a star in each "sector": baked pepper cream soup, caramelized goat cheese salad, pike perch fillet and candied duck, for vegetarians the dishes with asparagus, and for dessert the boiled „papanasi” (cheese doughnuts).




10. How did participating in the „Chefi la Cuțite” contest influence you?
It was an image boost.

11. What makes Lor.And stand out from the rest of the restaurants in Sibiu?
Menu diversification and the team.

12. Tell us, what are your plans for the future?
In the future we want to expand and to open a second location.
