If you are in a time crisis, you have too many ideas and a final decision is not yet visible, it means that you choose your furniture for the new home or change the existing one. You know this stressful feeling, but at the same time pleasant, don't you? The reasons why it happens to last longer are diverse and yet important, especially when you want the change you make to be long lasting.
Whether you choose the standard version and go to a specific store or choose custom furniture, there are a lot of details that you must take into account. Besides the preferences in terms of styles and models, comes the choice of the material from which the furniture will be ordered by you.

The most well-known and used materials for creating furniture are PAL (Particleboard) and MDF (Medium Density Fibers). Because they are very similar, the differences between the two are not very well known. Precisely for this reason, today's article brings to your attention the differences between the two materials, but also what advantages and disadvantages each has.

Laminated chipboard is the most used model by those who manufacture home furniture and is also the most common on the market. It can be found in different shades, patterns or structures that can mimic wood. Chipboard is a material characteristic of the following types of furniture: living room, bedroom, dressing room, furniture for commercial spaces, offices, etc. Due to its density and sensitivity to humidity, it is not very common in the kitchen or bathroom of a home.

There are several advantages that come with this type of model:
• It is available on the market at an advantageous price;
• It is easier to process than other models and thus the furniture is delivered faster;
• Tiles made of this material have a lower weight;

The disadvantages of furniture made of chipboard are:
• Sensitivity to steam, humidity, due to low density;
• Swelling if it stays at a high temperature for too long;
• For a longer period of time, the strength of chipboard is lower than that of MDF.

MDF is obtained in the same way as chipboard, the only difference being that the former has a finer surface and a higher density. Also, MDF does not have internal defects (cracks, knots, etc.) as in the case of natural wood, and the hardness is higher. What needs to be specified is the fact that it can have higher costs than chipboard or natural wood, costs that vary depending on the type of finish chosen.
From MDF boards can be made a diverse range of models and styles of furniture, whether we are talking about the classic or modern style.

The advantages of MDF are the following:
• Superior quality compared to PAL;
• The possibility of rounding the edges and creating patterns;
• Can be used in environments with constant humidity (such as the bathroom);
• Withstands heavier weights and lasts longer;
• MDF board can be milled, thus obtaining different shapes.

As disadvantages of MDF we can mention:
• Higher acquisition cost;
• Durable execution compared to PAL.
