Wood is a building material that has always been used and which is preferred by many countries around the world. While the United States, the countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula and those of Western Europe prefer such homes, Romanians are slightly reluctant when it comes to building a house that is not made of brick.

However, wooden houses are a cheaper, faster and very useful option for many people. Wood is the best option, especially now that people are saving their last penny to see their dream come true – to enjoy a beautiful, spacious house with a large plot of land together with their families.

Wooden houses are very versatile and fall into four broad categories: prefabricated houses, passive houses, little wooden houses on wheels and log houses. Let's see together how each one differs.

A. Prefabricated houses
Prefabricated houses have factory-made walls. They are transported to the place where the house will be built and on a concrete foundation made by the owner the actual installation of the house and the joining of prefabricated elements takes place. Prefabricated materials are properly treated and last for decades. Houses of this type are built quickly, cost much less compared to those made of brick or concrete and are increasingly appreciated by Romanians. For example, the structure of such a house can cost 40% less than a concrete structure.

B. Passive houses
Houses of this type represent the most modern version of wooden houses. Passive homes are built to be as environmentally friendly and economical as possible. With the help of state-of-the-art technologies, young people in the middle class choose to build sustainable homes, according to the times we live in.

C. Little wooden houses on wheels
This type of wooden houses is built on a chassis and can be towed by vehicles that can pull up to 3.5 tons. These houses are between 4 and 7 m long, depending on the model chosen and the customer's preferences. As for height, they are about 4 m high and 2.5 m wide. The homes have open spaces, the only separate space being the bathroom. They have good insulation and can be used both in summer and in winter. However, most often they are the choice of customers who want a holiday home.
D. Log houses
In the north of the country there are many builders who make houses from logs. They are peeled using hydraulic processing and assembled through drilling and joining, without the use of metal accessories. Natural insulation is used in the joint areas, so that homes of this type are perfectly insulated.

Log houses are very resistant and have a long lifespan, and their maintenance does not require much work. Among other advantages we mention the high capacity to store heat and a lower degree of humidity, given that the wood absorbs moisture. In addition, the perfect joints and massive structures of the materials offer high resistance to earthquakes and other natural disasters.
