The Vasile Aaron neighborhood – an area with many apartments on the real estate market of Sibiu

The name of this neighborhood comes from the well-known jurist, poet and translator, Vasile Aaron.
He was the son of the parish priest Vasile Aaron from the Glogoveț village, near the town of Blaj in Alba County. He attended the theology courses of the seminary in Blaj and the Faculty of Law in Cluj. He spoke Romanian, Latin, German and Hungarian.
After completing his studies, Vasile Aaron settled in Sibiu, where he worked as a procurator, notary of the Greek Company and then as an independent lawyer. He was the first Romanian lawyer to have the right to plead before the Saxon courts subordinated to the Saxon University.

This neighborhood was established due to the Industrial Area East, Balanţa II, Independenţa II, ICEMENERG, and other smaller factories or workshops located beyond the viaduct that crosses over the railway. Alongside the builders of the apartment buildings, the students of the lyceums from Sibiu also worked, especially those from „Industrial 2 Căi Ferate”.
In the past, this neighborhood was considered a working-class one, built to cover the housing needs of an intensely industrialized Sibiu.
It is a neighborhood of apartment buildings with housing for both families and individuals.

The main characteristics of this neighborhood are:

1. Perimeter
The Vasile Aaron neighborhood has a fairly small area in relation to the number of inhabitants that populate this area.
The area of this neighborhood is about 13 hectares.

2. Delimitation
This neighborhood is bordered by the following streets:
- General Vasile Milea Boulevard in the South-West area
- Vasile Aaron Street in the North-West
- Stefan Cel Mare Street in the North and North-East
- In the South-East area, this neighborhood is bordered by Valea Sapunului

3. Population
Although the area where this neighborhood is located is quite small, the Vasile Aaron neighborhood is the second largest neighborhood in the city of Sibiu. Although it is a fairly crowded neighborhood, Vasile Aaron enjoys popularity among Sibiu residents and is a fairly sought after area for buying apartments on the real estate market in Sibiu.

4. Areas

The Vasile Aaron neighborhood is crossed by two parallel streets: Semaforului and Vasile Aaron. While there are a few houses on Vasile Aaron Street, on Semaforului Street there are only apartment buildings.

5. Construction types

The largest area of this neighborhood is consists of many apartment buildings and some old houses.
The apartment buildings in this area are divided into two categories: blocks with a ground floor plus four stories (most apartment buildings were later added another story with an attic) and apartment buildings with a ground floor plus ten stories.

6. Tourist attractions and institutions of interest

While in the past, this neighborhood was considered a working class neighborhood, even communist, now it is a neighborhood like any other, with shops on the ground floor of buildings, agri-food market, park and national road traffic.
Also in this area there are schools and kindergartens, two of them with extended hours, commercial areas, medical clinics and pharmacies, banks. In addition, the neighborhood is in the immediate vicinity of the Shopping City Sibiu shopping area.
In addition, access to the center of Sibiu is easy.

7. Distance to the city center
The neighborhood is located at a distance of about two kilometers from the central area of Sibiu. Thus, a walk to the city center can take about 20 minutes, depending on the area from which you start. By public transport or by car, it can take 5-7 minutes depending on the time of day and the area from which you start.

8. Infrastructure and public transport lines
An advantage of the area is the infrastructure of the neighborhood, but also the public transport lines. The latter guarantee a good connection with many areas of Sibiu.
Line 2 – Route – Irmes – Piata Cibin (Cibin Market)
Line 14 – Route – Valea Aurie – Resita neighborhood
Line 15 – Route – Valea Aurie – Trainstation

9. Parks and green areas
We can say that this neighborhood is not a tourist area, but a neighborhood of apartment buildings which is quite common in urban areas. That is why there are not many green spaces in this area.
While in the past there was no park in this neighborhood, now the neighborhood has a park with a children’s playground and an equestrian center with an area of 38,000 sqm.
