22.09.2021

A beautiful city surrounded by many other beautiful places you don't see every day, do you? Alba Iulia, because it is about, is one of the most visited places in our country. The historical events that took place here turned it into a real spiritual center, a place of great significance for the Romanians in the country. The tranquility of the city, the joy with which you are greeted by people and the tourist points worth visiting are some of the reasons why it may be your holiday choice.

In this real estate blog article we present you some places full of history and culture from Alba Iulia, but also from the surroundings,

1. The White Fortress - Carolina
It was built at the beginning of the 18th century following a plan conceived by an Italian architect. The star-shaped fortress is the largest in our country and also the most visited tourist spot in the area. It is a place full of history, consisting of three fortifications, built in different periods: the Camp, the Medieval Fortress and the White Carolina Fortress. It provides visitors with several tourist routes: the Route of the Three Fortifications, the Southern Route, the Romanian Nation Route, the Eastern Route, the Gate Route or the Nordic Route.
A symbol of Romanian patriotism for over 300 years, the White Carolina Fortress enjoys more and more Romanian and foreign visitors.

2. Obelisk "Horea, Closca and Crisan"
We certainly do not have to mention who they are and how important they were for the history of our country.
With a height of over 20 m, the obelisk was erected in 1937 and is located at the Third Gate of Alba Carolina Fortress, being a tribute to the three leaders. If in the past the monument had the role of protecting the main gate of the fortress, today it represents a point of reference in the memory of the Rebellion of 1784.

3. The National Museum of the Union
The building in which the museum operates was built between 1851-1853, in romantic style. The museum is among the best known in our country, and its collections number about 200,000 heritage objects. These objects will take you back in time, from the prehistoric period to the period of the Dacians and Romans, reaching Horea's Rebellion until today.

4. Rapa Rosie
It is located in Alba County, just 3 kilometers from Sebes. It was formed naturally, by water erosion on the ground, and today it is an area admired by many tourists. They can see the pink formations here, they can paraglide and they can admire species of flowers protected by law. Also here is the Thieves' Pit, dug in the ravine, around which revolve many legends about outlaws.

5. Scarisoara Glacier Cave
The period of this glacier is not yet known, but it is said that it was first written about in a document of Empress Maria Theresa, a document that approves the cutting of wood to restore the stairs leading to the glacier.
The cave was declared in 1938 the first natural monument cave in our country. It houses the largest glacier in Romania in size and the second in the world. Every year he enjoys a contented visitor, eager to descend to his heart. A series of studies conducted by some researchers claim that the age of the glacier is approx. 3000 years. The cave that houses the glacier was renovated and reopened to the public in July this year.
