11.03.2021
For you and the other people who live in Sibiu, the beauty of the city has already become a business card of our lives. Every day you find activities that connect you as much as possible with the city, with your favorite places. Maybe time doesn't allow you to do something different every day, but definitely at least once a month you go to your favorite restaurant, the theater, your favorite club for a girls' night out or for that crazy night with the boys. Thank God we have a choice.
Even if all these places bring you well-being, at some point you think that in addition to your favorite places, you have exhausted what was new to you, but routine for your friends. After a carousel of thoughts, people and places, do you wonder what else you could visit?

But before moving to another city to quench your thirst for something new and beautiful, let's take another tour of Sibiu or its surroundings. You will see that there are many places you like that will attract you from the first pictures. And if anyone takes on the role of Thomas the Unbeliever in this story, it's no problem. The phone and a map will help you see how many destinations are undiscovered and unpolished, but at the same time amazing and with a story worthy of history books.
With the GPS on or without help, we can set off, bringing to the attention of your new and beautiful lover, 5 places in Sibiu county that are worth a visit.

The Clay Castle Fairy Valley
This is one of the most sought after locations in Sibiu County. The castle is located in Porumbacu de Sus, at the foot of the Fagaras mountains, an area where nature and the fresh mountain air make the law. As found in the name of this location, the castle walls are made of clay and the towers are built of stone. The castle is arranged on 2 levels and consists of 10 rooms, available only for visiting. Truly a fairytale place, as the name suggests, through the architecture of the castle that blends melodically with everything around it. Perfect not only for a getaway dedicated to children, but also for each of us, eager for a quiet day.

The Saxon fortress of Biertan
Another place worth visiting is the Saxon town of Biertan. It is part, together with several other Transylvanian localities, of the UNESCO Patrimony, both due to the architecture that has been preserved from the Saxon period, and for the beauty of the fortified church that is in this locality. Thus, if you want to discover the history of other places and at the same time you are passionate about the past, about keeping the stories in the walls of a building, then Biertan and the fortified church deserve a vote of confidence. You should know that there are other things to discover such as the traditional houses specific to the local Saxon culture, but the church-fortress is the one that generally arouses the curiosity of visitors. But in order to arouse your curiosity even more, it is definitely worth mentioning the "Divorce Chamber". Why is it called that? Well, even if you think that such a method couldn't work, it seems to have been really beneficial.

Transfagarasan Road
Among the places you can visit around Sibiu is Transfagarasan. Visited annually by a lot of tourists, it has earned a place in the hearts of all people who have already arrived at this location, and those who have not yet managed to get it immediately put it on the list. The Transfagarasan makes its way through the Fagaras Mountains, reuniting the Vidraru dam of Cartisoara, the village of Badea Cartan. If you are wondering what you could actually visit here, besides the road with an extraordinary view, of great attraction is Balea Lac, maybe the most popular place, but also Capra Waterfall, Vidraru Dam or Curtea de Arges Monastery. If you love to drive and you like to combine the useful with the pleasant, then this is the right location.

The fortified church from Carta
Also on this subject, we must mention the fortified church of the Charter, as it is known to many. Detached as if from a story, the Cistercian Abbey of the Charter is now a cramp from everything that was the church at one time, but this cramp, being well preserved in time, tells visitors its entire story, with all the myths already clear or which still arouse people's curiosity and questions.

The Slimnic Fortress
This is the last, but not the last, that I have to remind you of. It is a destination near Sibiu, only 17 km away, on the road to Medias. The fortress was set on fire several times, conquered and recaptured. That said, a real fight for her, the construction being quite affected. Today, to our joy, with a simple visit we manage to discover its charm and the history that bears its name. Even a house for sale here is a good idea, as access is easy in the city. And when you become the owner, you will enjoy all this much easier.

I am convinced that these places have already been added to your list, so I can only wish you: "Have a nice trip!"
