Mold in the home - How do we prevent it from appearing?
17.09.2021

Mold can occur anywhere and can also affect both your health and the space in which you live. It can form on clothes, on food, on carpets in your house or even on hard to reach objects. It appears very easily, but it is harder to remove and it is certainly a problem that will not disappear too soon.
Most people probably wonder how to prevent it, and if this problem already exists, how do we get rid of it? Generally, it is formed in environments with a high degree of humidity, in dark areas or in areas with a low temperature.

In today's article we show you some signs that confirm the existence of mold in your home and also what you need to do to prevent its appearance.

Here are some signs that mold is present in your home:
• Discoloration can be a sign of mold formation;
• Laying it on surfaces. It usually appears under black spots, but can take on a variety of colors;
• Smell, among the most obvious signs;
• Water staining: Appears especially in areas in direct contact with water or moisture.
• Respiratory problems: As specified above, it can even cause health problems if a person inhales the odor for a longer period of time.

It is best to find a solution that completely eliminates the source of mold. A simple cleaning will not be enough, especially if it was not formed only on the surface of the walls. For this reason, below are some options that can prevent the formation of mold:
• Get rid of moisture - It condenses on various surfaces in the house and thus gives rise to mold. Make sure the air in your home is dry enough;
• Permeability by insulation - The exterior and interior insulation of the house must ensure good ventilation of the interior. Materials such as basalt wool or expanded polystyrene help in this regard;
• Repair the problematic pipes - Check the sanitary installation in the house after use to make sure that there are no leaks, and if there is one, replace the problematic pipes;
• Ventilate the rooms - Condensation can appear very easily, so it is advisable to open the windows for at least 20 minutes, morning and evening. You can also use a dehumidifier;
• Ventilate the kitchen - One of the places where mold is most common is the kitchen. Open the window after cooking and don't forget to use the hood. This prevents odors from penetrating and reduces moisture;
• Sanitize the kitchen well - Wipe the stove regularly and the walls around it and get rid of spoiled food.
• Ensure adequate ventilation in the bathroom - The bathroom is the most prone when it comes to mold formation, especially if it is not provided with a window for ventilation. If your bathroom has glass, then ventilate after each shower, if it does not have the space you allow, then install a special fan for the area in question;
• Avoid drying clothes in the house. If you do not have a balcony then try to leave the window open until it dries;
• Clean weekly and avoid allergens.

Certainly the mold causes a lot of inconvenience, but any problem has a solution. Remember that a daily ventilation of the rooms is the easiest way to prevent mold.
